About Dana Jacobson

Dana Jacobson is a former dancer of the New York City Ballet who offers a first-hand experience of elite level fitness training and ballet coaching to the general population as well as aspiring and professional dancers. Her ballet students have gone on to dance professionally in ballet companies in the United States and Europe.

Prior to joining the New York City Ballet, Dana's formal ballet training included 3 years of study at the School of American Ballet (New York), 2 years at the Berrend Dance Center (Maryland), and 1 year at the Washington School of Ballet (Washington, DC), as well as summer intensives at the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell, San Francisco Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and the Washington School of Ballet. Dana also trained privately with former dancers of New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Ballet Russe, amongst others.

After training at the School of American Ballet, Dana was accepted into the New York City Ballet at age 17, where she danced for 7 years. She retired in 2016 and launched her private training business later that year.

While a dancer of the New York City Ballet, Dana performed the company's rich and vast repertoire. Her performed roles include over 100 choreographies by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Peter Martins, Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, and Benjamin Millepied. Dana also toured with New York City Ballet, performing in China, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Saratoga Springs (New York), and in Washington, DC at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

In addition to her expertise in the Balanchine technique and experience dancing with one of the world's foremost ballet companies, Dana is also a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Pilates instructor. In tandem with ballet training, she creates programs for dancers to help build strength and prevent injuries.

Dana graduated from Columbia University as a Dance major with Business Management concentration in 2020. She currently lives in Los Angeles and, in addition to training men, women, and dancers across the nation, is a licensed real estate agent with Douglas Elliman.
